I started “thirteen.” when I was thirteen as a way to make a difference. I turned my baking hobby into a business as a way to fundraise for personal and social causes. In 2011, I raised enough to found a community computer center with ten laptops in Bunia, Congo. In 2012, I travelled to Brazil for a medical mission on the Amazon and and volunteering at my church, Bel Air Presbyterian.
As a junior at Pacifica Christian High School, I participate in Student Government, on varsity volleyball, and this JanuaryI have the opportunity to go with a group of students with YWAM (Youth with a Mission) to Mexico to build a house.
Over the past four years, I have been selling my delicious creations through celebrity caterers and at special events. In 2012, I was given the opportunity to be the exclusive bakery at the Warner Avenue Elementary School Holiday Boutique. While this was a great opportunity to help raise money for the school, I saw this as an opportunity to build a holiday business. The event was a huge success selling out in two hours and then rushing home to bake more products for the sale in the afternoon! I have posted several pictures from the event on my site.
Also, I have started to get some press and was recently profiled in my school newspaper, The Current. http://www.thepacificacurrent.com/something-smells-delicious/
A big thanks goes out to Virb, which allowed me to create such a professional site. The templates and beautiful designs allow me to spend less time designing a website and more time sharing my activities and creating new gourmet baked goods.
Keep up with the latest creations and best practices through my facebook page, and pintrest boards.
